This report discusses lessons learned from the smallpox vaccination program, concludes that there is a need to balance scientific communication with national security imperatives in the context of such programs, and recommends that smallpox preparedness should be comprehensively assessed.

The Smallpox Vaccination Program: Public Health in an Age of Terrorism is the seventh and final report that the Committee on Smallpox Vaccination Program Implementation has released to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  In addition to new analysis and conclusions, the previous six letter reports from the committee are included in this final report.
